FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Artist Antoinette Cauley debuts new collection aimed at defying stereotypes of black men in America.

Phoenix, AZ – January 27, 2015 – Rebel Salon & Vintage is pleased to present Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It, a solo exhibition of new work created by Antoinette Cauley on Saturday January 31st, from 7-11 p.m.

Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It features a collection of paintings of young Caucasian girls transformed into stereotypical black men. In this exhibition, Antoinette shines a light on the unfair labels the media places upon black men in America.

“This series is very relevant to what is going on in this country right now. I feel a responsibility as an artist to call out an injustice when I see one through my work. This series is so important, not just for me as the creator but for black America. I want people to see how unfair and wrong these stereotypes are. I need them to see how hurtful they are and damaging they have been for centuries” says Antoinette.

The night will be filled with music, light food, beverages and a chance to meet the artist. A variety of goods at the Rebel Salon & Vintage will be on display for visitors to purchase as well as the paintings and drawings in the exhibition. Several prints, shirts and other merchandise will also be available for purchase. This is a free event that is open to the public.

Along with featuring her new series and several never before seen pieces, Antoinette partnered with luxury street wear line Eloquent Club to release a limited edition shirt featuring the star painting of her collection. This shirt will be available for purchase at www. eclubclothing.com from January 5th– January 21st 2015.
